Jean Mayerhofer

Jean Mayerhofer, 81, of Athens NY was called home to heaven on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at Albany Medical Center after a courageous battle with COVID-19.

Born in Catskill, NY, on December 30, 1938, she was an LPN and RN for over 46 years. She was a very loving and caring Angel who dedicated her life to her family and profession taking care of everyone. She was still working full-time 2 weeks prior to being admitted to the hospital putting other’s needs ahead of her own. She was a member of the Columbiettes with the Knights of Columbus in Coxsackie, NY. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Mayerhofer; son, Kevin Stevens; parents, William Kapusta Sr and Rose Ciampa-Kapusta-Stringer. She is survived by her sons Bruce Stevens, Larry Moats, and Michael Mayerhofer, her sister Cindy (Jeff) Wood, 2 brothers, William Kapusta Jr of Coxsackie and Thomas Kapusta of Loudonville; a grandson, Michael Mayerhofer Jr., and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Richards Funeral Home, 28 N. Vernon Street, Athens, N.Y. 12015. Due to the social distancing restriction, private services will be held at the Athens Rural Cemetery, in Athens, NY on Friday, 5/15/2020 at 11:00am.
