James Lee Davis

The LEGEND: James Lee Davis, Age 73 of Catskill NY passed away suddenly surrounded by his loving family on July 5, 2020. James Lee was the first son born to James Paul and Sarah Elizabeth Davis. In his earlier years James Lee relocated from North Carolina with his parents and siblings where they made Catskill NY their home.

James Lee attended Catskill Central High school. He started working at Allied Boat Company, then was later employed for many years by Conrail Railroad and the Town of Catskill. James was the

“jack of all trades” he could look at something and know exactly what to do and how to fix it. Many family members and friends would stop by and he would help anyone. He was an avid farmer, and loved to hunt- he loved shooting and had a keen ear and a good eye during hunting season. He was also a mechanic and most of all his families’ protector. James enjoyed the lake, fireworks, fishing, playing cards and bailing hay with his brothers; in addition to eating his favorite meals prepared by his sisters. He had a huge heart and loved his daughters and grandchildren with all he had. Every time he mentioned them he would smile big and talk about them with pride.

James had a huge passion for the outdoors and sharing it with family. He spent a lot of time with family especially his nephews teaching them the ropes on snow mobiles, ATVs & trucks etc. He was also well known for his GTX, Road Runner and his Orange pick up truck. James loved to drive and go for long rides but you were sure to make it where you were going really fast! He loved to show others a good time. After leaving or hanging out with him you were always left with a laugh and a story. His love for animals was endless you could find him on any day feeding animals and having conversations about them. He always had and shared so much knowledge about agriculture and animals. He was fun to be around and when you were in his presence he would love to serve you his steak or his brummel stew. He meant the world to his family: He was our king, warrior, teacher and protector.

James was predeceased by his parents, James and Sarah Davis. His brother Thomas P Davis and sister Arletha Cheeseburger. He leaves to cherish his legacy to his loving wife Patricia A.
