James J. Shumsky Sr.

James J. Shumsky Sr., 78, of Claverack, passed away peacefully March 23, 2020 at Pine Haven Nursing Home. He was born in Hudson, December 26, 1941, the son of Stephen and Thelma (Albright) Shumsky.

Jim was a furnace technician, and plumber for many years before becoming the Senior Building Maintenance worker for the Columbia County Public Safety Building. He will be remembered for his hard work, and dedication to helping people. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching the Rams, both in St. Louis and Los Angeles. He also was an avid baseball card collector. Above all else James was a loving and caring husband, and a devoted father. James is survived by his wife Jeanette, his sons, James Shumsky Jr. (Robert Ramirez) and Michael Shumsky. His sisters, Marcia (Ray) Himmel, and Reginia (Roy) McCune, brothers, Thomas and Joseph Shumsky. His beloved Jack Russell, Lexie, in addition to many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, and brother and sister in law, Stephen and Ann Shumsky.
