Harold “Pick” Jurgens, age 82 years, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2021.
He was born on April 4, 1938, in Miami, Florida, and is the son of the late William and Olive (Sutherland) Jurgens.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his beloved dogs Pixi and Ricky.
Survivors include his daughter Melinda Tokle (Sean), and his son Bruce Jurgens (Lauren), grandchildren Ian Metzger, and Cooper and Alivia Jurgens, as well as many extended beloved family members.
During his lifetime, Pick was a graduate of Cairo Central School Class of 1956, and also a graduate of Nichols college. Pick retired from J. Kenneth Frasier & Associates as a consulting engineer. He was also owner and operator of The Cairo Water Company, owner of The Torchlite Campsites. He was a life member of The Cairo Hose Company, past member of The Kedemah Masonic Lodge - 693, Cairo, N.Y., a member of The Cairo Rotary Club, Past President of The Cairo Republican Club, Past President of The Cairo Durham School Board, Member of B.O.C.E.S. /Questar, and also a member for several years of The Cairo Chamber of Commerce.
Pick enjoyed hunting, fishing, flying, snowmobiling, adventures with his RV, and talking politics with anyone, and spending time with his family.
He was extremely honored to present High School Diplomas to his daughter Melinda and his grandson Ian at The Cairo Durham High School.
Visitation will take place at Richards Funeral Home, 29 Bross Street, Cairo, N.Y. on Saturday, April 3, 2021, from 12:00 Noon – 2:00 P.M. For everyone’s protection, Social Distancing and all guidelines will be strictly adhered to due to the current Covid19 Pandemic, while at the funeral home.
