George Draganides

George Draganides, 83, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2020 at The Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital, Albany.

Born in Thessaloniki, Greece, he was the son of the late Dimitros and Maltina (nee: Amoxapolis) Draganides. Raised and educated in Greece, George served with the Hellenic Armed Forces. He began his life in the US as a brave restaurateur, first in Brooklyn and then in Hudson where for the last 23 years he and his wife , Irene, along with their children, Jimmy and Tina, have run George & Sons Restaurant . George was a kind man, proud of his family, especially his grandchildren who he adored. He selflessly strove to provide the best for his family, as their happiness is what made him happy.

George is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Irene (nee: Friggis) Draganides; his children, Jimmy Draganides, Pam Karathomas and Tina Draganides; and his grandchildren, George, Stephen, Christian and Jonas.

The Draganides family would like to thank the entire Hudson community for their support throughout the years as George was challenged by Alzheimer’s . They are especially grateful for the tremendous staff at George & Sons Restaurant , particularly Yvonne and Kennya, who have been incredibly compassionate during this time.

We are having a candlelight vigil this Saturday, 7pm in front of George & Son’s Diner at 160 Fairview Ave.
