Ethel Korba

Ethel Korba, age 97 years, of South Cairo, N.Y., passed away on October 8, 2020, at Columbia Memorial Hospital, Hudson, N.Y. She was born on May 5, 1923 and is the daughter of the late Nicholas and Julia (Babrunka) Obuhanick. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her loving husband Stephen and her son Robert.

She is survived by her two grandsons Christopher and Robert, her granddaughter Stacy, and their children and a niece and nephew Charles and Ann Marie Jones.

During her lifetime, Ethel proudly served her country in The United States Army during WWII, serving as a Medic.

Ethel was a member of The American Mohican Legion Post - 983, Cairo, and also The American Legion Mohican Post - 983 Ladies Auxiliary, the V.F.W. Post - 7229, also The Greene County Women’s Cancer Patient Aid , a member of the Sacred Heart Church, Cairo. Ethel loved the outdoors, she loved gardening, canning and she was an avid golfer.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend calling hours at Richards Funeral Home, 29 Bross Street, Cairo, N.Y. on Thursday, October 15, 2020, from 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 Noon. Interment will follow at 12:30 P.M. next to her late husband Stephen, in the veteran section of The Catskill Town Cemetery, Catskill, N.Y with full military honors, also with prayers, and services conducted by The American Legion Mohican Post -983 and The American Mohican Post - 983 Ladies Auxiliary.
