Westkill- Donald K. Strausser, 87, of Harter Road, died Tuesday June 1, 2021 at Mountainside Residential Care in Margaretville. He was born January 5, 1934 in Maplecrest son of the late Kenneth and Beulah Newcomb Strausser. He was a native, and life long resident of the Catskill Mountains. Don was a Specialist 3rd Class in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956. He owned and operated DK Strausser Plumbing. Don was a past member of the Fire Department, and he had a great appreciation for the beauty of nature. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a talented artist who worked with both watercolors and oils, often his medium was shell fungus from trees, or old saw blades. He was an integral strings member of the of The Sidekicks Band with Hilton and Stella Kelly for many years.

Surviving are his wife Diane whom he married in 1991, son Dale Strausser of Westkill, and sister Gloria Blum. His stepchildren: Max (Cheryl) Pushman, Michael Pushman, Billy (Sharon) Pushman, Linda Bloodgood, Mary Gail (Stanley) Sutton. He was predeceased by his sons Warren and Hecter, and brothers Harvey and Robert, and daughter-in-law Bertha “Bootie” Pushman.
