David Jeffrey Neff, 61, born December 8, 1959, passed away on January 15, 2021 in Birmingham, AL. David was known as Jeff to many of his family and friends in High Falls, NY and Catskill, NY where he lived during his younger years. He was the son of Karen Trowbridge Neff Scarcelli and David John Neff, both deceased. Later, in Gainesville, FL and Birmingham, AL, friends have known him as David.
Throughout his time, Jeff felt most at home in the outdoors for both recreation and employment. Early years on and around the Neff farm in Kyserike, High Falls, NY set him on this path. His uncle, Will Neff, who survives him, resides at the farm today. Like many in this neck of the woods, Jeff hunted, fished, and enjoyed caring for the land. He liked working hard, among other occupations, tending grounds in Gainesville.
Jeff is survived by his uncle, Wilfred H. Neff (Susan); two aunts, Joanne D. Andrews of Trumansburg, NY and Linda J. Martin of High Falls and various cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Anthony Scarcelli; brother,Thomas Scarcelli, several aunts and uncles, siblings of his father and step-father. He leaves friends and family in both the north and south who remember his distinctive voice and laugh, and cared deeply for him.
Traver & McCurry funeral home in Catskill is assisting the family. Interment will take place at a later date when safe travel allows.
