Cathy Ann Lazzara

Cathy Ann Lazzara 61, of Columbiaville died peacefully on January 31, 2020 at Columbia Memorial Hospital. Born in Hudson NY on June 4, 1958 she is the Daughter of Donald and Marcella Stupplebeen.

Cathy was predeceased by her father Donald. Cathy was a loving and kind mother, wife, sister, and daughter. She was always friendly to others engaging in polite conversation with a good sense of humor. She had several jobs in her carear with her favoriates being an assistant in a preschool and a clerk at the Ichabod Crane School where she was able to be close to her pride and joy, son Jonathan. Cathy had multiple sclerosis since her twenties. Although it slowly impacted her life she always had a cheerful outlook and found a way to overcome the problems it presented. This outlook led her to cycling and she became an avid cyclist. During the summer she rode quite often on her tandem recumbant bike participating in charity rides, family group rides and weekly rides with her sister-in-law Jill.

In addition to her Mother Cathy leaves behind her husband Robert of 34 years and son Jonathan (Lindsay). She is also survived by her brother Paul(Donna) Stupplebeen, siblings-in law Jill(Rich) Van Alphen, Mark(Barb) Lazzara, Philip (Debbie) Lazzara and nieces and nephews Jessica Van Alphen, Jennifer VanAlphen, Jeremy Lazzara, Jennifer Hicks, Jeffery Stupplebeen and Thomas Stupplebeen.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Staff on the forth and sixth floors of the Columbia Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care during her final days.

A private celabration of Cathy’s life will be held at the convenience of the family.
