Catherine Ferrara

Catherine Ferrara died peacefully after aging at home in her Westchester residence. She was born in Manhattan, moved to the Bronx, and settled in Yorktown Heights, New York.

Catherine was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, and for over 30 years was the director of admissions at Misericordia (Our Lady of Mercy) Hospital. She was a devout Catholic and active parishioner of several churches: St. Rita of Cascia and Saint Lucy’s in the Bronx and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton and St. Patrick’s in Westchester. She is predeceased by her husband Salvatore Ferrara and her daughter Patricia Netto. She is survived by sister Serafina Chiucchini, daughter Lorraine Ferrara-Schaefer and sons-in-law Charles Schaefer and Aldo Netto; grandchildren: Anthony, Joseph, Catherine, Rachel, Kate, Marie, Francine, and Christopher and great-grandchildren: Charles, Michela, James and William. Catherine was a woman of style and purpose; witty, wise, kind, compassionate, and abundantly blessed. This sassy, classy matriarch will be dearly missed.

Memorial donations in her name may be made to St. Rita of Cascia, 448 College Ave, Bronx, New York 10451. Graveside service for immediate family was held at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Putnam Valley, New York on June 19, 2020. A Catholic Mass of Resurrection at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton church and a celebration of life reception tentatively scheduled for September 5, 2020.
