Carmen “Turtle” Torchia , 77 , passed away at home with his family by his side on January 6th, 2021. Carmen was born on October 12th, 1943 in Hudson, NY to Carmen and Lucy Torchia. He graduated from Hudson High in 1961. Following graduation he served in the U.S Army in Korea during the Vietnam war. Carmen worked for the Columbia County Highway department where he retired from in 2005. On July 15th, 1995 he married Cheryl Ann Poucher and they raised two daughters Chelsea and Brittany Torchia.Carmen had a passion for helping Veterans, He was an active member of VFW post 1314 and was past commander. He was also an active member of Moose Club, Boys and Girls Club, American Legion 184, and the Sons & Daughters of Italy. He enjoyed walking the streets of Hudson, visiting friends and talking to everyone. He was known as a Hudson Icon and Legend. Carmen was preceded in death by his father, Carmen, his mother Lucy, his brother David, and his wife Cheryl. He is survived by his 2 children, Chelsea Torchia and Brittany (Kyle) Louder, his grandson Julian, Heather Barber, who is like a daughter to him, his brother Thomas (Bobby) Torchia, his sister Jennie Boswell, and his brother, Michael (Kathy) Torchia Sr and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held at a later date, and in lieu of flowers, please make donations to Community Hospice.
