Barbara Rindler, 84 passed away November 6, 2021 in her sleep after a long illness. her family and friends nearby.
Born March 14, 1937, she was the daughter of Jack J. and Ethel (Levine) Kaese.
Barbara grew up in Rego Park and spent her summers at Copake Lake attending summer camp. Copake was place she treasured her whole life.
She was a loving mother and grandmother and devoted to her cat.
Fiercely independent, in 1979 she opened her own successful real estate business, Sunplaza Country Real Estate in her beloved Copake. She introduced hundreds of people to Columbia County and the surrounding area and was always proud and happy when she found the right homes for people. She was beloved and respected as a real estate broker and built many lasting relationships with those she sold homes to and her fellow real estate brokers.
Barbara was committed to and loved Copake Lake. She was a founding member of the Copake Lake Conservation Society (CLCS), served as a trustee for nearly 50 years, became its treasurer and was a member of the newsletter committee. She was an active member of the Copake Lake Homeowners Association for over 15 years and served as treasurer. She volunteered with the Roeliff Jansen Community Library as a member of the Gala Committee and was a member of the Columbia Greene Board of Realtors for over 30 years.
An avid movie fan, she never missed attending the Chatham Film Festival. She saw every movie, in “her seat” (10th row on the aisle) every year.
She is survived by her three children: Kenneth Rindler of Bayshore, NY, Jeff Rindler-Jordan (Jared) of Hollowville, NY and Andrew Rindler (Karen) of Deltona, FL, granddaughter Katie, her cat Maude and her many friends.
A celebration of her life will be held in the spring, a time of year she loved, and when it will be safe for all to gather.
