Archie B. Deane III, 66, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2021. Born in Great Barrington, MA he was the eldest son of Archie B. Deane II and Helen (Goldsmith) Deane and grew up in the towns of Amenia and Copake, NY. Archie was a graduate of Webutuck High School in Amenia, NY and upon graduation enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he proudly served his country for 21 years, from 1972-1993. Apart from the birth of his two children, he considered his service in the Navy to be his crowning life achievement.

After he retired from the Navy, Archie attended Columbia Green College in 1996 and later graduated from the College of St. Rose, Albany, NY in 2000, with a degree in Special Education. He then taught at the Anderson School for children with autism. He later worked for the State of New York at COARC and Wassaic, both of which provided care for people with disabilities.

Archie was an avid reader and fan of the NY Mets and the NY Jets. He loved to garden and to assemble challenging 1000 piece puzzles. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Catherine (nee Caponera) Deane, his daughter Ryan (Jason Bosford), 42, his son Sean Deane (39), his father, Archie B. Deane II, his brother David Deane, his sister Audrey (nee Kemp) Deane and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his late mother, Helen (nee Goldsmith) Deane.

A private memorial will be held at the convenience of his family, in his beloved Adirondack Mountains. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the Disabled Veterans of America, https://www.dav.org.
