CAIRO — A Greene County man was arrested last week and charged with 124 felonies, state police said Tuesday.

Jose A. Rodriquez, 45, of Athens, was arrested at 7:46 p.m. Oct. 10 in Cairo and charged with two counts of possession of an obscene sexual performance by a child and 122 counts of possession of a sexual performance by a child, all class E felonies.

The investigation began in January 2018, state police Public Information Officer Steven Nevel said.

“We received a cyber tipline report that images were being uploaded to a certain account and IP address,” he said.

An IP address, or internet protocol address, is a unique series of numbers that identifies a computer using the internet.

Police were able to use the information to obtain search warrants, Nevel said.

A search warrant was executed at Rodriquez’s residence, Nevel said.

Nevel did not know whether the images were found on a home computer or at Rodriquez’s workplace, he said.

Rodriquez did not create the images that were found, Nevel said.

Rodriquez was arraigned in Durham Town Court and held in lieu of $25,000 bail or $50,000 bond. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for 5 p.m. Wednesday in Cairo Town Court.
