CANAAN — A Capital Region man has been arrested following an investigation into an accident that took place in Canaan on April 24, Beau Duffy, director of public information for state police said on Friday.
Arthur King, 53, of Albany, was charged with second-degree vehicular assault, a class E felony, and operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs, an unclassified misdemeanor, Duffy said.
At about 8:32 p.m., King was driving a vehicle south on Route 22 in the area of Tremper Association Road when he lost control of the car. The car went over a guardrail and down an embankment, striking a tree before coming to rest, Duffy said.
King was brought to Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, with a neck injury. A passenger in King’s vehicle was taken to Albany Medical Center.
King was arrested on Thursday following the two-month investigation, Duffy said. He was issued appearance tickets for Canaan Town Court. He is scheduled to appear Aug. 12.
Canaan firefighters closed part of Route 22 until the crash was cleared.
State police investigated that night. They were assisted by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.
