CATSKILL — First responders in Catskill were kept busy Tuesday with two separate car accidents.

The first accident occurred at about 2:28 p.m., when a car struck the Greene County Office Building at 411 Main St.

The driver of the car, a 70-year-old West Coxsackie woman, was not identified by police.

The woman lost control of her car while she was backing up in a parking lot at the rear of the building, said Lt. Daniel Waer of the Catskill Police Department. Her car struck a parked vehicle and pushed the parked vehicle into the building, Waer said.

Greene County 911 sent Catskill Fire Company and Catskill Ambulance to the scene.

Catskill ambulance evaluated the woman, who refused medical treatment, Waer said.

Both cars were towed from the scene.

The area of the building that was damaged was boarded up after the vehicles were removed.

The second crash happened at about 6:20 p.m., at the intersection of Route 23 and Route 385.

The driver of a pickup truck pulled onto Route 23 into the path of a taxi.

Police did not identify the drivers.

The unidentified driver of the pickup, 34, from Catskill, was charged with driving while intoxicated. Following his arraignment, he was released, pending his next court appearance, Waer said.

Greene County 911 sent Catskill Fire Company and Catskill Ambulance to the scene.

Both drivers were examined by paramedics, and refused medical treatment, Waer said.

Drivers heading west on Route 23 were detoured over Spring Street until the crash was cleared.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
