Greene County will be ringing in the holidays with three Holiday Light Parades over the next week.

Parades are scheduled to take place in Catskill, Cairo and Coxsackie.

The annual Catskill Parade of Lights will wind its way through the village Friday night.

The parade, which is hosted by the Catskill Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, lines up at Dutchman’s Landing and steps-off at 7 p.m.

Dozens of fire companies, community groups and businesses come to Catskill to participate in the area’s largest holiday parade.

About 5,000 spectators come to see the lights and Santa Claus.

The parade route covers most of the village, including Main Street, Henry Street, Broad Street, Prospect Avenue, William Street, Woodland Avenue, High Street, Spring Street, West Bridge Street, Broome Street, Grandview Avenue, Laurel Lane, West Main Street and Jefferson Heights.

On Saturday, the scene shifts to Cairo, where the holiday celebration includes a light parade and fireworks.

The annual event is sponsored by the Town of Cairo, Cairo Chamber of Commerce and Cairo Hose Company.

The parade lines up by the Hannaford Plaza, in the area of Oak, Birch and Cedar streets.

Marchers step off at 6 p.m. and head down Main Street, ending at Railroad Avenue.

Following the parade is the annual tree lighting with Santa, vendors and music, at 7 p.m.

The night ends with a huge fireworks display at 8 p.m.

The following weekend, Coxsackie rings in the holidays as the Coxsackie Fire Department holds its annual Parade of Lights on Friday, December 3.

After participants are lined up on Apple Blossom Lane, the parade will step off at 6:30 p.m.

The parade marches down Mansion Street, ending at Village Hall, where refreshments will be served.
