SAUGERTIES — A traffic stop for speeding led to the arrest of a Greene County man on felony drug charges, the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.
An Ulster County deputy on Jan. 24 pulled over a car driven by Francis Raffiani, 46, of Palenville, in the town of Saugerties, according to the sheriff’s office.
The deputy discovered an open container of alcohol in Raffiani’s vehicle, according to public information officer Abe Markiewicz. A further search of the car turned up 53 grams of cocaine, the sheriff’s office said.
Raffiani was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, according to the sheriff’s office.
He was also charged with the traffic infractions of speeding and possessing an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office.
Following his arrest, Raffiani was released with an appearance ticket to appear in Saugerties Town Court at a later date, according to the sheriff’s office.
