SAUGERTIES — A bicyclist from New York City died last Friday from injuries he sustained after being struck by a vehicle driven by a Greene County man, according to Saugerties police.

Craig L. Pedersen, 55, of Palenville, was charged with failure to yield the right of way, Saugerties Police Chief Joseph A. Sinagra said Wednesday.

The accident occurred Nov. 3.

The bicyclist, an unidentified man of 44, suffered serious injuries in the crash and was airlifted to the Albany Medical Center.

The man died from his injuries Nov. 20, Sinagra said.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Fish Creek Road and Patch Road. At about 12:38 p.m., the victim was bicycling north on Fish Creek Road when he collided with a 1995 Mercedes driven by Pedersen.

Pedersen was driving south on Fish Creek Road when he made a left turn onto Patch Road and failed to yield to the bicyclist, causing the collision, Sinagra said.

Saugerties Police were assisted at the scene by paramedics from Diaz Ambulance, Centerville Cedar Grove Fire Department, state police and the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office.
