STOCKPORT — A Coxsackie man has been charged with rape in the alleged sexual assault of a child in Stockport, Aaron Hicks, public information officer for state police Troop K, said Saturday.
Keener A. Mendez, 18, was charged with first-degree rape, a class B felony, and fourth-degree stalking, a class A misdemeanor, Hicks said.
Police believe there are other victims, Hicks said.
Mendez was arrested Friday following a 7-month investigation by state police Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Columbia County Child Advocacy Center, Hicks said.
Mendez was arraigned in Town of Stockport Court and was taken to the Columbia County Jail, where he was held on $5,000 bail, Hicks said
Mendez is scheduled to appear in Stockport Town Court on March 1.
