CAIRO — A Greene County couple was charged with drug possession following a traffic stop on Christmas morning in Cairo, state police spokeswoman Kristin Lowman said Tuesday.

Sean R. McNulty, 49, of Freehold, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and manufacturing drug-related paraphernalia, both class A misdemeanors.

Alicia M. McNulty, 31, also of Freehold, was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class C felony, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal use of drug paraphernalia, both class A misdemeanors, Lowman said.

On Saturday, at about 1:42 a.m., state police stopped a vehicle driven by Sean McNulty on county Route 67 in Cairo for vehicle and traffic violations. Police determined there was probable cause to search the vehicle. During the search, a quantity of cocaine and narcotic devices were found.

Sean McNulty was issued appearance tickets for Cairo Town Court. Alicia McNulty was arraigned and released pending her next appearance in Cairo Town Court.
