ATHENS — A Columbia County man was charged with sexually abusing a child in Greene County, Public Information Officer for State Police Troop F Steven Nevel said Wednesday.

Jordan K. Davis, 37, of Philmont, was charged by state police with two counts of first-degree sexual abuse, a class D felony, and four counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor, Nevel said.

Davis is accused of having sexual contact with an individual less than 11 years old, Nevel said. Police did not disclose details of the relationship between Davis and the alleged victim.

State police began their investigation after the alleged incidents in Athens were reported to them on Aug. 10.

Davis was arrested on the charges Tuesday, Nevel said.

Davis was arraigned in Athens Town Court and was released on his own recognizance, pending a future court date, Nevel said.

State Police at Catskill were assisted in their investigation by the State Police in Livingston Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Columbia County Child Protective Services and Greene County Child Protective Services, Nevel said.
