LEXINGTON — A fatal one-car accident occurred in Lexington just before 5:30 p.m., according to the Greene County Sheriff’s office.
First responders were called to the scene on Route 23A where the operator, Leslie Risley, 55, of Lexington, drove his 2012 Chevrolet Silverado off the north shoulder of the road while traveling west and collided with a concrete retaining wall, according to the sheriff’s office.
The vehicle was on fire and passersby pulled Risley from the vehicle, Undersheriff Adam Brainard said.
Risley was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The investigation is still ongoing, however the preliminary cause of the accident is potentially medically related at this time,” according to a statement from the sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by state police, the Hunter Police Department, DEP Police, Lexington Fire Department and Greene County Paramedics.
