HUNTER — An injured hiker was airlifted to Albany Medical Center following an accident in the Kaaterskill Wild Forest, Department of Environmental Conservation spokesman Jomo Miller said Friday.

The unidentified man, 65, from Queens, sustained serious physical injuries after he fell about 20 feet off Bastion Falls, Miller said.

On Oct. 3 at about 1 p.m., Greene County 911 notified Forest Ranger Daniel Fox of the injured hiker on the Kaaterskill Falls Trail, Miller said.

Fox assisted paramedics who were treating the injured hiker. Within 15 minutes, the man was placed in a litter and carried out to a waiting Town of Hunter Ambulance on Route 23A, Miller said.

The ambulance brought the hiker to a LifeNet helicopter for transport to Albany, Miller said.
