KISKATOM — A $50,000 state grant awarded by the office of state Sen. Michelle Hinchey will fund construction of a landing pad for medical transport helicopters for the Kiskatom Fire Department, fire officials said Monday.

The grant from the State and Municipal Facilities Capital grant program will allow the town to construct a helipad at the Kiskatom Firehouse. The helipad will allow medical evacuation helicopters from state police and Albany Medical Center to airlift Greene County patients to medical facilities in case of emergency.
