NEW BALTIMORE — Gander RV & Outdoors is looking to breathe life into the former Boat-N-RV Warehouse.

Gander RV & Outdoors, formerly known as Gander Mountain, was purchased in bankruptcy court by Marcus Lemonis, star of CNBC’s “The Profit,” in 2017, according to a statement from Camping World Holdings, which owns the company.

New Baltimore Town Supervisor Jeff Ruso welcomed the business.

“If they bring in more business and more employment opportunities, I think that’s the best benefit to the town of New Baltimore,” Ruso said.

The store will serve locals and attract visitors, he said.

“It will be available for our community instead of driving to Albany and I do think there’s some potential for Thruway business as well, which would be good for our community,” Ruso said.

The business will be located just south of New York State Thruway exit 21B.

Gander RV & Outdoors will expand on what was previously offered by the Boat-N-RV Warehouse, Ruso said.

“It really is a repurposing of the current business, but expanding it in the sense of there will be more things available for people. They will sell more than just RVs,” he said.

Greene County Legislature Chairman Patrick Linger, R-New Baltimore, said the business will add more services to the location.

“I think it’s going to be a good thing,” Linger said. “From what I understand, it’s going to add a retail outlet that only minimally existed before under Boat-n-RV Warehouse.”

The store will feature Camping World line campers and offer camper maintenance, Linger said.

“As far as sales tax goes, it should be a good thing and as far as employment, I believe there will be an increase over employment that was there previously,” Linger said.

Neighboring Coxsackie should also benefit, Town Supervisor Richard Hanse said.

“I think it’s great,” he said. “It will bring people into Coxsackie. It’s good for our business, it’s good for New Baltimore’s business.”

The store could open as early as the end of December, according to an announcement from Greene County Economic Development Corporation.

Ruso did not have an exact opening date, he said.

Camping World Holdings did not return multiple calls for comment.

“This major new business in Greene County will attract buyers from underserved markets in the Capital Region, Upper Hudson Valley and Western Massachusetts with their wide selection of RVs and camping necessities, bringing additional revenue and employment opportunities to our communities,” according to the Economic Development Corporation.
