GREENVILLE — An 11-year-old boy was seriously injured in an all-terrain vehicle crash Friday evening.

First responders were called to the scene on Waldron Road at about 6:30 p.m. The boy, who was operating the ATV, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office.

“[The operator] lost control of the ATV, went off the roadway, striking a log which ejected him from the machine,” Greene County Sheriff Pete Kusminsky said. “He then struck a tree limb.”

The boy, whose name and hometown have not been released, was airlifted to Albany Medical Center and is expected to make a full recovery, the sheriff’s office said.

In addition to the sheriff’s office, state police, Greenville and Freehold fire departments, Greenville EMS and Greene County Paramedics responded to the scene.

The accident is under investigation by the sheriff’s office.
