Athens man dies at Phish concert in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO — A Greene County man died Sunday night while attending a concert by the rock band Phish, according to the San Francisco Police Department.

The San Francisco Office of the Chief Medical Examiner identified the man as Ryan Prosser, 47, of Athens, Officer Grace Gatpandan of the San Francisco Police Department said Tuesday night.

Officers responded to the Chase Center at about 9 p.m., after receiving reports that a man had fallen. Medics were called to the scene to provide treatment, but they were unsuccessful. Prosser was pronounced dead at the scene.

Reports say Prosser fell about four stories.

Police have not released what led up to the deadly fall.

This is an ongoing investigation, San Francisco police said Tuesday.

In a statement, Chase Center officials expressed their heartfelt condolences and were working with local authorities to determine exactly what happened.

About an hour later, two other victims suffered injuries from falling, authorities said. The two men were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
