GALLATIN — An Albany woman was charged after she allegedly led police on an eight-mile pursuit on the Taconic State Parkway on Monday, Aaron Hicks, public information officer for state police Troop K, said Wednesday.

Nicolette T. Rivera, 27, was charged with third-degree fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle, a class A misdemeanor, and first-degree operator impaired by drugs, a class U misdemeanor, Hicks said.

At about 9:59 p.m., troopers attempted to stop a 2018 Mazda 3 traveling north in the area of Exit 80 for multiple vehicle and traffic violations, Hicks said.

Rivera failed to comply with police and made a u-turn, traveling south in the northbound lanes. She later cut across the center median, and continued driving in the southbound lanes.

Rivera got off the parkway at Exit 72, Jackson Corners Road, and lost control of vehicle, crashing into a fence, Hicks said.

Rivera was taken into custody without further incident.

Rivera was brought to Columbia Memorial Health for evaluation.

She was given appearance ticket for Gallatin Town Court for an appearance on June 9.
