STOCKPORT — A Stockport woman has been charged with rape, child endangerment and falsely reporting an incident, Lt. John Rivero of the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.
Dawn Budelman, 59, allegedly told police that on Feb. 28, a man entered her home and raped her. Following an investigation, it was determined that Budelman had consented to a sexual act with a male under the age of 17 years old, Rivero said.
Budelman was charged with third-degree rape, a class E felony, endangering the welfare of a child, third-degree falsely reporting an incident and making a punishable false written statement, all class A misdemeanors, Rivero said.
The extensive investigation included multiple interviews, collection of evidence and an examination at Columbia Memorial Hospital, Rivero said.
Budelman was arraigned in Stockport Town Court before Justice Malcolm Smalley and was released on her own recognizance, pending her next court appearance on May 3. An order of protection was issued for the victim.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 518-828-3344.
The investigation was conducted by Deputy Brian McSween and Investigator Joshua Oakes of the Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit.
