GALLATIN — A Troy man was injured Wednesday afternoon following a one-car accident on the Taconic State Parkway in Gallatin, Aaron Hicks, public information officer for state police Troop K, said Thursday.

Cleveland Evans, 45, was taken to Columbia Memorial Health by Northern Dutchess Paramedics with non-life threatening injuries, Hicks said.

At about 1:26 p.m., Taghkanic Fire Company was sent by Columbia County 911 to the parkway, in the area of the Gallatin Overlook, after receiving reports that a car had crashed into a tree.

Evans was driving a 2021 Chevy Malibu north on the parkway when he fell asleep and drove onto the center median and struck a tree, Hicks said.

The northbound lane of the parkway was closed until the accident was cleared.

The car was towed from the scene.

State police investigated.

All firefighters were back in service at 2:36 p.m.
