NEW LEBANON — A Rensselaer County man is being held in the Columbia County Jail after his arrest on charges of sexual abuse of a child in New Lebanon, Aaron Hicks, public information officer for State Police Troop K, said Monday.
William E. Ubrich, 45, of Sand Lake, was charged by state police with first-degree sexual abuse, a class D felony, and endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor, Hicks said.
Ubrich was arrested Jan. 1 after an investigation that began Dec. 15. Police were assisted with the investigation by the Columbia County Child Advocacy Center, where it was determined Ubrich sexually abused a victim under the age of 11, Hicks said.
Ubrich was arraigned in Claverack Town Court and was taken to the Columbia County Jail, where he was held on $2,500 bail, pending a future court appearance in New Lebanon Town Court.
