GALLATIN — A 3-year-old boy was injured in a two-car accident Wednesday on the Taconic State Parkway.

The unidentified boy was taken to Mid Hudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie, Aaron Hicks, public information officer for state police Troop K said Thursday.

The boy reportedly bumped his head in the crash.

The child was injured due to improper child restraints, Hicks said.

At about 6:47 p.m., Columbia County 911 sent Taghkanic Fire Company and Northern Dutchess Paramedics to the scene, after receiving numerous reports of the accident.

A 2014 Infiniti sedan being driven south by Rubel Ahmed, 28, of Queens, when he lost control of the car near mile marker 78. The vehicle left the road on the west shoulder and hit a tree about 50 feet from the road, Hicks said.

Ahmed and three other passengers, Tisha Chowdhury, 28, of Queens, Shamim Khan, 37, Queens, and a 7-year-old child were not injured.

One southbound lane of the Taconic Parkway was closed while crews worked.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Ahmed was issued several tickets for vehicle and traffic violations, Hicks said.
