PHILMONT- A chimney fire brought a multi-department response to Philmont on Monday afternoon.

Philmont Fire and Greenport Rescue were dispatched by Columbia County 911 to 14 Elm St. around 1:55 p.m., according to Philmont fire officials.

Arriving firefighters reported the fire had spread to the wall of the home and called for mutual aid from Mellenville and Claverack fire departments, fire officials said.

The home’s residents called 911 after they smelled smoke, and were told to evacuate the building by 911 dispatchers.

Firefighters extinguished the fire and then ventilated the building, fire officials said.

All companies were back in service at 3 p.m.

There were no reported injuries, according to Philmont fire officials on the scene.
