TAGHKANIC — The occupants of two vehicles were not injured Sunday afternoon after they collided on a busy Taghkanic road, William Hilscher, Taghkanic fire chief, said.
At about 12:34 p.m., first responders arrived at Route 82, in the area of county Route 15, after a pickup truck collided with a car.
The Honda Ridgeline truck, which was driven by an unidentified man from Peekskill, struck the passenger side of a Hyundai Sonata driven by an unidentified Connecticut man. The crash sent the car off the road, narrowly missing an ornamental boulder, Hilscher said.
All occupants were evaluated by paramedics, but refused medical treatment.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
Taghkanic Fire Company and Northern Dutchess Paramedics responded. Taghkanic firefighters provided traffic control and state police investigated.
While crews were at the accident, they were alerted to a second call, on the Taconic Parkway, in the southbound lanes at Exit 80. A car had run over a portable gas can that was left in the road. The can became wedged under the car.
The driver pulled over on the shoulder of the road, and firefighters were able to retrieve the can from under the BMW.
