HILLSDALE — The driver of a motorcycle was taken to Columbia Memorial Health on Tuesday after he crashed his bike in Hillsdale, Lt. John Rivero of the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office said.

Patrick Becham, 38, of North Adams, Massachusetts, had pain in his wrist and knee following the accident, Rivero said.

At about 5:07 p.m., Columbia County 911 sent Philmont Fire Department and Greenport Rescue Squad to the intersection of county Route 7 and county Route 21, after receiving reports of the crash.

Becham was driving his motorcycle south on county Route 7. When he approached a stop sign at the intersection with county Route 21, his bike experienced a mechanical failure. Becham dropped the bike to stop, Rivero said.

Paramedics examined Becham at the scene before he was brought to the hospital.

The motorcycle was towed from the scene.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office investigated. They were assisted by state police.
