GHENT — A Hudson man was taken to Columbia Memorial Health by Greenport Rescue Squad on Tuesday morning following a two-car accident in Ghent, said Aaron Hicks, Public Information Officer for State Police Troop K.

Corey Merrill, 39, had minor injuries, Hicks said Wednesday. The other driver, Elizabeth Kromer, 59, of Philmont, was not injured.

At about 7:10 a.m., a car driven by Kromer north on Route 9H was stopped to make a left turn onto Stockport Road, when she was rear-ended by a car driven by Merrill, Hicks said. No tickets were issued, Hicks said.

West Ghent firefighters assisted Greenport Rescue and provided traffic control.

Both cars were towed from the scene. Part of Route 9H was closed until the accident was cleared at about 8 a.m. State Police investigated.
