GERMANTOWN — The driver of a car that was involved in an accident Aug. 6 in Germantown was arrested on charges stemming from the crash.
William Saltis, 18, of Germantown was charged Thursday by state police with second-degree reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child, both class A misdemeanors, driving while intoxicated and operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol count of 0.8 of 1%, both class U misdemeanors, according to state police.
Saltis was issued appearance tickets for Germantown Town Court.
Saltis was behind the wheel of a car that crashed about 4:31 a.m., in the area of 153 Main St. The car left the road, struck a utility pole and overturned, state police spokeswoman Kristin Lowman said.
The force of the crash sheared the utility pole in half.
Saltis was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
A passenger in the car, Edward Turner, 16, of Castleton, was taken to Albany Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Main Street had to be closed for seven hours while the state police accident reconstruction team investigated.
