GERMANTOWN — One woman was taken to Northern Dutchess Hospital following a two-car accident Monday afternoon in Germantown.

The crash happened on Route 9G, just north of Main Street, at about 3:41 p.m.

A car driven south on Route 9G by Carolyn DiMauro, 75, of Germantown, attempted to make a left turn into a convenience store parking lot, Kristin Lowman, a state police spokeswoman, said Tuesday.

DiMauro failed to yield the right of way and collided with a car driven north on Route 9G by Angela Lanuto, 40, of Catskill, Lowman said.

Both women were examined by paramedics at the scene.

Route 9G was closed in the area until the crash was cleared.

Columbia County 911 sent Germantown Fire Company and Community Rescue Squad to the scene.

Both vehicles were towed. State police investigated.

The road was reopened and all firefighters were back in service at 4:55 p.m.
