NEW LEBANON — Half a dozen fire companies were involved in fighting a fire in New Lebanon Saturday evening, Lebanon Valley Fire Chief Matt Larabee said.

Columbia County 911 dispatched the New Lebanon task force to a reported barn fire at 50 Cherry Lane around 6:47 p.m. Saturday.

Arriving firefighters reported one barn was fully involved and the fire had spread to a second barn. Mutual aid for additional fire companies was requested, Larabee said.

Both barns, which were used for storage, were destroyed, Larabee said.

No injuries were reported, according to fire officials.

State police are investigating the cause, Larabee said.

Fire companies involved in fighting the fire, or on standby, were Lebanon Valley; Canaan; Red Rock; East Chatham; Richmond, Massachusetts; and Tsatawassa.

Chatham Rescue, state police, and the Columbia County fire coordinator’s office assisted on the scene.

All fire companies were back in service at 8:41 p.m.
