HUDSON — Kitty’s Market, 60 South Front St., and Lil Deb’s Oasis, 747 Columbia St., are bringing two community refrigerators to Hudson, where people can take or leave food, free of charge.

There will be two refrigerators, one outside each of the businesses. The refrigerator at Kitty’s Market on the corner of Cross Street and South Front Street is up and running.

The refrigerators will be available for drop-off or pick-up 24-7 and are open to everybody.

Produce, eggs, dairy, meat, dry and packed goods, or anything else that isn’t home-cooked, is allowed in the refrigerators.

Wow that is so great. There are many drop boxes for non-perishable items at local groceries, but this is the first I heard of a place to share perishable items. I hope this inspires other communities to work to provide this type of much needed resource.
