Harry O. Vincent

Harry O. Vincent

Harry O. Vincent “put it in the books” on April 7, 2024, passing away peacefully after years of declining from Lewy Body Dementia.

Harry was born on May 28, 1955, and raised in Catskill, N.Y., by his parents, Eleanor & Oreste Vincent (both deceased). After a few years at Alfred State College, he returned to Catskill and opened the Garden Center, which he operated for over 30 years while also teaching horticulture at the Hudson Correctional Facility before his retirement.

Harry was a loving father to Carly & Jeff and their partners Terry & Jessica, and he was a very proud “Papa” to Felix & Fiona. He is survived by three brothers, Tom, Dick, and Jack, and many loving friends, including his ex-wife Rae who helped care for him during his illness. They all have fond memories of travel, skiing, camping, hiking, Mets games, live music, dancing, and laughter with Harry.

As a peace-loving political activist, Harry devoted many hours contributing to causes that mattered to him and encouraging others to join him in those efforts. In lieu of flowers, Harry’s family asks his surviving circle of friends and family to consider making a donation to one of the causes below and writing to a N.Y. senator to ask them to support “Die with Dignity” legislation S2445A and include dementia.
