Election day in Columbia County is in two weeks. From 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on March 19, the villages of Chatham, Kinderhook, Philmont, and Valatie will be holding elections for open board of trustee positions, as well as mayoral and village justice positions.

Chatham

Village Trustees Melony Spock and Karyn Schassler, both incumbents, are running unopposed to reclaim their seats on the village board under the Chatham Works Together party.

Kinderhook

In Kinderhook, four residents are looking to fill two, two-year seats on the village board. One Kinderhook resident is running for village mayor, a two-year term, and village justice, a four-year term.

New Kinderhook Party candidates T. Kevin Monahan and Susan Patterson, as well as Astrid Montagano, of the Village People’s Party, and Christopher van Moessner, of the OK Community Party, are running to fill the two open seats on the village board this year.

Village Trustee Dorene M. Weir is not running for reelection on the board, instead she is running unopposed for the village mayor’s position under the Lindenwald Party. Mayor Michael Abrams is not running for reelection.

Thomas Baumgartner, of the Justice For All Party, is running unopposed for a four-year term as village justice.

Philmont

In Philmont, Village Trustees Douglas Cropper and Debra Gitterman are running unopposed for their seats on the village board.

Cropper is running under the Village Party, and Gitterman is running under the Philmont Neighbors Party.

valatie

Valatie Village Trustee Patrick Rodgers is running unopposed for his seat on the village board under the Resident’s Party.

Amy Frienberg-Trufas is also running unopposed for a seat on the Board of Trustees under the Resident’s Party.
