Department of Public Works Commissioner Michael O’Hara was at Oakdale Lake Tuesday morning, filling netted 50-pound onion sacks with barley straw and tying them to weights to submerge them in the lake.
The purpose is to control excess algae. But O’Hara conceded that evening that there may be no significant results until next spring.
