COPAKE — Certified Balance and Mobility Specialist Wendy Garfield will be instructing an eight-class FallProof series 10-11:15 a.m. Wednesdays and Fridays beginning March 18 through April 10 at Roeliff Jansen Community Library, 9091 Route 22, Copake. FallProof classes are designed to help older adults improve their strength, agility, and balance through gentle exercises. Participants will exercise seated and standing with handheld support as they work on flexibility and strength, and will use walking poles for gentle, gaited movements across the floor. Exercises will focus on three physiological areas important to balance and movement that impact functional independence: vision, motor, and cognitive systems. This pilot series of 8 free classes meets twice a week and can accommodate a maximum of 10 people. Participants must sign up at the library or by calling 518-325-4101 in order to reserve their spot.
