ABOUT THE PERFORMERS

Chuck Lamb, as a pianist and composer, has been with the Brubeck Brothers Quartet for 14 years and has performed with the Quartet and/or his own groups at numerous renowned festivals and venues around the world, including Jazz At Lincoln Center, the Newport Jazz Festival, the Monterey Jazz Festival, the Chinese National Orchestra (Singapore), the Russian National Orchestra at Tchaikovsky Hall (Moscow) and the Blue Note (Tokyo) to name a few.

Dust Bowl Faeries duet (Ryder Cooley and Jon B. Woodin) play a unique variety of dark carnival dream music on accordion, singing saw and acoustic guitar. Hailing from the New York Hudson Valley, the band was founded by artist Ryder Cooley and Hazel, a taxidermy ram who performs with the band as their mascot spirit animal. The faeries’ eclectic repertoire of songs draws inspiration from circus, post-punk and Eastern European folk music. The Dust Bowl Faeries quintet recently released a new album, The Plague Garden, along with a new video, Candy Store, produced and directed by Lisa M. Thomas of Thin Edge Films. In addition to their most recent release Plague Garden, the band has released two EP’s, Beloved Monster and The Dark Ride Mixes, and a self-titled debut album, produced by music critic Seth Rogovoy, featuring Tommy Stinson (Replacements) & Melora Creager (Rasputina).

“Americana by way of pagan cabaret” Bay Area Reporter 2020

ABOUT THE WISH YOU WERE HEAR SERIES

The virtual variety show ‘Wish You Were Hear,’ features the wistful verses and morbid amusements of house band Dust Bowl Faeries, paired with a curated program of monthly musical special guests. WYWH is a live event, produced by Experiential Design Artist Corey Aldrich at the acclaimed live music venue Club Helsinki, in Hudson NY. The show is recorded LIVE before a streamed audience.

ABOUT THE VENUE

“On March 13th, Helsinki Hudson joined the nation-wide closure to the events and performance industry that continues. When performances stop, income stops for all including full and part time employees and the countless artists that regularly play on the stage. This has created an unprecedented hardship, but we are still hanging in there.” said Deb McDowell, Co-Owner and Founder of Helsinki Hudson. “The assumption is that we will be one of the last ones to get our lives back on track. Club Helsinki supports national organizations like Red Alert Restart and Save our Stages and we look forward to the day we can continue our good work.”

Working to find new ways to present live music is a challenge felt across the world now as venues struggle with unprecedented shut downs. ‘Wish You Were Hear’ is an attempt to bring some of that ‘live’ experience back to the music lover in all of us. WYWH is broadcast live with no edits or delays.
