CREATE Celebrates 40th Annual Youth Arts Exhibit
CATSKILL — CREATE Council on the Arts is thrilled to announce the 40th year of its annual youth exhibition “Outside The Lines,” featuring artwork by pre-K through Grade 12 students invited from Greene, Columbia and Schoharie County public and homeschools. This collection is the culmination of a year of study in which area youth learn and develop life skills such as concentration, problem solving, understanding and working with materials, translating ideas into art, and aesthetic appreciation. “Outside the Lines’’ gives students the unique opportunity to exhibit their artwork in a professional gallery and allows visitors to see a wide cross-section of the diversity and promise of our region’s young, creative talent. CREATE’s extraordinary annual exhibit is made possible by the participation of numerous teachers, administrators, students and their families.
CREATE plans to celebrate this momentous occasion with a special preview of the show at Gallery@CREATE to coincide with Catskill’s First Fridays on June 2nd from 4-8pm. Party favors will include art goodie bags for kids and “Face Painting by Crystal” from 5:30-7:30pm. An opening reception will also be held on Saturday, June 3rd from 2-4pm. “Outside the Lines” 2023 will be on view June 2nd to July 2nd. Gallery@CREATE is located at 398 Main Street in Catskill and is open Fridays, 4pm-7pm, and on Saturdays and Sundays, 11am-6pm. The exhibit is free and open to the public. CREATE COUNCIL ON THE ARTS is a non-profit, arts service organization whose purpose is to support and advance the arts and cultural community by broadening and enriching creative resources and economic growth in the region. CREATE serves as the Statewide Community Re-grant arts organization for Greene, Columbia and Schoharie Counties.
Since 1975, CREATE has provided information and essential services to artists, arts organizations, cultural and educational institutions, civic groups, community agencies and the general public, and continues to grow its outreach as a regional arts council.
CREATE is supported in part with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Kathy Hochul and the New York State Legislature..
