Art Austerlitz plans an ambitious season of exhibits from May 1 through September 30, 2021 at the historic church on route 22 in Austerlitz and at the Morey-Devereaux barn at Old Austerlitz, where local and regional artists will display contemporary art and sculpture. The project of the Austerlitz Historical Society showcases the cultural history being forged in the region today and welcomes the next creative generation to our community.
The monthly exhibits, curated by Ryan Turley, will each begin with a Saturday reception and end on the last Sunday of the month. The gallery will be open from 12-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday throughout the exhibition season.
Opening May 1, Throwing Shapes continuing through May 23, exhibiting artists are: Ruth Freeman (Newburgh, NY) Joan Grubin (Hillsdale, NY) and Ghost of a Dream (Wassaic, NY).
On June 5, Liz Nielsen (Newburgh, NY) opens her solo exhibition of photograms and sculptural explorations through June 27.
Four artists opening on July 3: Stuart Farmery (Ghent, NY), Zach Neven (Ghent, NY), Alon Koppel (Catskill, NY) and Eric Wolf (Chatham, NY) present Line, Mass, Form, until July 25.
Sharing the July 3 opening reception is Kate Skakel (Hudson Valley, NY) whose installation Murmurations occupies the Morey-Devereaux Barn from June 19 until July 25.
Four artists exhibit Patterns from August 7 opening until August 29. These include: Will Hutnick (Wassaic, NY), Will McLeod (Hudson, NY), Mark Olshansky (Great Barrington, MA), and Padma Rajendran (Catskill, NY.)
Art Austerlitz participates in the self -guided tour of Upstate Arts Weekend from 8/27 - 8/29.
September4, Dana Piazza (Lenox, MA) opens his exhibit, Routines and closes out the season on September 27.
Bijan, the sculptor from the Circle Museum in Green River, is set to display several of his creations for the duration of the exhibition.
On June 5, Old Austerlitz Museum and Gift Shop will open its second season with the same weekend hours as Art Austerlitz, presenting an attractive afternoon for families, and especially art and history lovers. The Austerlitz Historical Society follows state guidelines on masks and social distancing. All proceeds benefit Old Austerlitz and the Austerlitz Historical Society.
