Greenport Seniors

GREENPORT — The Greenport Seniors June 25 meeting has been cancelled. The picnic planned for July 23 is cancelled as well. Meetings are not normally scheduled in August so the next planned meeting will be at 1 p.m. Sept. 24 in the Community Center.

Regarding the trips with the Columbia County Golden Agers several have had to be cancelled. The trips cancelled so far are June 11 to Boston; July 14 to the Log Cabin; Aug. 12 to Westchester Theatre. We are still looking into the remaining trips. Will keep you posted. Stay home and stay safe.

Southern Tier Seniors

TIVOLI — The Southern Tier Senior meeting planned for June 3 at the Mason’s Hall in Tivoli has been cancelled. The next meeting is planned for July which will be the annual picnic. If there are still safety restrictions to avoid group gatherings we will have the picnic in August. For information about the club, call Jim 845-756-2960.

Tri-Village Seniors

VALATIE — Tri-Village Seniors will keep everyone posted on the status of the Hudson River Cruise trip in June as well as the June meeting when those dates get closer.

Claverack Seniors

CLAVERACK — The June 12 meeting of the Claverack Seniors has been cancelled. There will be no more trips until further notice.

Shopping Assistance For Seniors

HUDSON — Difficult times bring out the best in people and once again, Columbia County residents have stepped up to the challenge. If you are a Columbia County resident who is over 60 and need assistance and would like someone to shop or pick up prescriptions for you, call the Office for the Aging at 518-828-4258. The Office for the Aging has compiled a list of groups and volunteers throughout the County who will shop and deliver items to your home. The Columbia County Office for the Aging is here to assist you during this difficult time.

Face Masks

HUDSON — If any senior, 60 and older, is in need of a face mask, they should contact the Columbia County Office for the Aging at 518-828-4258 to make arrangements for pick up or delivery. The office is open 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Hotline For Elderly And Vulnerable

HUDSON — Columbia County Sheriff David Bartlett has established a hotline for the elderly and vulnerable in county, including those with medical conditions or are disabled, who would welcome a deputy checking on their well-being on a daily basis. The number for the hotline is 518-828-0601 ext. 1400.

Virtual Strength and Balance Class

COPAKE — The Roe Jan Community Library presents Virtual Strength and Balance Class 9-10 a.m. Thursdays. Join Dr. Paul Spector for a virtual exercise class from the comfort of your own home via Zoom. All you need is a computer, tablet, or smartphone and an internet connection. Join the class each Thursday by visiting https://zoom.us/j/759916157, or by going to https://zoom.us/ and typing in this code: 759-916-157. The same link and code will be used each week.

Hudson Senior Center

HUDSON — The Hudson Senior Center is closed and the exercise and meal programs are cancelled until further notice. However, the Senior Center has established a food bank for anyone in need of additional food items. Please call first for a time to pick up and bring your own reusable bags. Someone will come down to meet you at the front door.

Neighbors and friends are calling to volunteer their time to assist seniors in need of grocery pickup or small errands. If you need someone to assist you in this way, call the Senior Center at 518-828-3200 between 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Thursday so we can arrange this service for you.
