GREENPORT — The Greenport Seniors picnic planned for July 23 is cancelled as well. Meetings are not normally scheduled in August so the next planned meeting will be at 1 p.m. Sept. 24 in the Community Center.
Regarding the trips with the Columbia County Golden Agers several have had to be cancelled. The Westchester Theatre trip in August has been cancelled. We are still looking into the remaining trips. Will keep you posted. Stay home and stay safe.
Southern Tier Seniors
TIVOLI — The Southern Tier Seniors next meeting will be Aug. 5 which will be the gathering at the Clermont State park. Everyone planning to attend should bring their own lunch and lawn chair. The representative from the Office of the Aging will be there to deliver the Farm Market Coupons to those who qualify. For information about the club, call Jim 845-756-2960.
CLAVERACK — The July 10 meeting of the Claverack Seniors, traditionally the picnic, has been cancelled. A representative from the Office for the Aging will be at the Claverack Town Park with Farmers’ Market coupons at 1 p.m. July 29 for all those 60 and older who are eligible. This will be a drive-thru procedure to receive coupons near the pavilion. All the Claverack Senior trips for the remainder of this year have been cancelled.
STUYVESANT — The Stuyvesant/Stockport Senior Citizens July 21 meeting will be a drive-thru only to pick up Farmers’ Market coupons. Members are asked to wear a mask and stay in their car. Pick up will be from 1-2:30 p.m. at the Stuyvesant Town Hall, 5 Sunset Drive, Stuyvesant. Anyone who qualifies for Farmers’ Market coupons is urged to join us.
Shopping Assistance For Seniors
HUDSON — Difficult times bring out the best in people and once again, Columbia County residents have stepped up to the challenge. If you are a Columbia County resident who is over 60 and need assistance and would like someone to shop or pick up prescriptions for you, call the Office for the Aging at 518-828-4258. The Office for the Aging has compiled a list of groups and volunteers throughout the County who will shop and deliver items to your home. The Columbia County Office for the Aging is here to assist you during this difficult time.
HUDSON — If any senior, 60 and older, is in need of a face mask, they should contact the Columbia County Office for the Aging at 518-828-4258 to make arrangements for pick up or delivery. The office is open 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Hotline For Elderly And Vulnerable
HUDSON — Columbia County Sheriff David Bartlett has established a hotline for the elderly and vulnerable in county, including those with medical conditions or are disabled, who would welcome a deputy checking on their well-being on a daily basis. The number for the hotline is 518-828-0601 ext. 1400.
Virtual Strength and Balance Class
COPAKE — The Roe Jan Community Library presents Virtual Strength and Balance Class 9-10 a.m. Thursdays. Join Dr. Paul Spector for a virtual exercise class from the comfort of your own home via Zoom. All you need is a computer, tablet, or smartphone and an internet connection.
Hudson Senior Center
HUDSON — Thank you everyone for your support in following the CDC guidelines and keeping all of us safe and healthy by staying indoors and stocking up on basic necessities.
The Hudson Senior Center is closed and the exercise and meal programs are cancelled until further notice. However, the Senior Center has established a food bank for anyone in need of additional food items. Please call first for a time to pick up and bring your own reusable bags. Someone will come down to meet you at the front door.
Neighbors and friends are calling to volunteer their time to assist seniors in need of grocery pickup or small errands. If you need someone to assist you in this way, call the Senior Center at 518-828-3200 between 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Thursday so we can arrange this service for you.
